How to Install Linux (Ubuntu) in 4 Easy Steps

Linux is considered one of the most stable and secured operating systems of this era by many technology experts all around the world. However, most of the domestic computer users are reluctant to change their traditional operating systems because of the technicalities and problems that they may face during the installation of Linux.

Nevertheless, computer users must understand that gone are the days when installing Linux was difficult. Now, almost all of the major Linux distributions are much easier and more convenient to install than ever before.

In fact, there is more than one way to install Linux distributions on your system. For instance, Ubuntu is one of the most popular Linux distributions that offer a variety of methods to install it on your operating system. So, if you are reluctant to install a Linux operating system on your computer, do not worry. Ubuntu allows you to install it on your computer just like any other regular software without losing your existing windows.

Here is a brief step-by-step guide that will help you install Linux just like any regular windows software:

Step 1

Go to the official website of Ubuntu and download the windows installer for installing the latest version of Ubuntu.

Step 2

Once the download is finished, run the downloaded file and you will see a dialogue box similar to this:

Now, all you need to do is provide a Username and password for your Linux account. You can also customize your settings according to your own liking. For instance, you can change the installation drive where you want to install your operating system. Also, there is an option to choose your preferred language from a number of different languages. So, if English is not your first language, you can still enjoy the Linux Ubuntu experience. You can also adjust the installation size based on the size of your hard drive.

Step 3

After you choose the installation options, click the “install” button and the installation will begin. For the installation, you need to have an internet access. The setup will download the installation files and it may take a while.

Step 4

After the installation is finished, you can simply select the “Reboot” option and click Finish. After the Reboot, Ubuntu will be added in the boot menu and you will be able to choose either Ubuntu or the previously installed versions of other operating systems.
As you can see it has become extremely easy to install a Linux distribution on your computer. The best part of installing Ubuntu with the windows installer is the ability to uninstall it anytime you want. If you are not satisfied with the Ubuntu experience, you can simply uninstall it with the help of Add/Remove program feature of Windows.
